This is why it's good to wear a heated vest when riding
The heated vest is a practical and effective garment for staying warm and comfortable while riding in cold weather, which improves both safety and comfort.
The temperature can easily be adjusted, while on horseback, with the touch of a button.
Using a heated vest when riding is beneficial for several reasons, especially in colder weather conditions:
Increased comfort and freedom of movement
Heated vests are usually thin and flexible, making them comfortable to wear without restricting movement. They warm the body without adding bulk, which is important for being able to ride freely and comfortably.
Keeps the torso muscles warm
A warm torso is important for maintaining mobility and avoiding stiffness, especially during activities like riding, where balance and body control are crucial. Warmth on the torso can also reduce the risk of muscle strains.
Ability to adjust the heat
Our heated vests have different heat settings that make it possible to adjust the heat level as needed. If it gets too warm, you can easily lower the temperature, making it easier to maintain a comfortable body temperature throughout the riding session.
Extends riding in cold conditions
A heated vest makes it more comfortable to ride even when the temperature drops, so you can stay warm and ride longer without freezing. This makes winter rides more enjoyable and bearable.
Focuses heat on the core
In cold weather, it is important to keep the body's core warm to maintain circulation and prevent extremities, such as hands and feet, from getting cold.

During quick heating (5 min), you can choose the heat level yourself by pressing through the options (red-white-blue).
If you do not make an active choice, the heat will automatically switch down to a lower temperature (medium setting) after 5 minutes.
- Red LED light: Highest heat (55° C)
- White LED light: Medium (50° C)
- Blue LED light: Lowest heat (45° C)
- To turn off, press and hold the LED control until the light 1 goes out.
Frequently asked questions about heated vests
Do heated vests work?
Yes, a heated vest works effectively to provide extra warmth, especially in chilly weather. Heated vests from Back on Track are designed with built-in heating elements, powered by a powerbank, that emit heat directly to the torso.
Here are some ways in which a heated vest works:
Electric heating elements: Most heated vests are equipped with thin, flexible heating elements, usually placed around the chest, back, and sometimes the neck. These elements are heated by electricity from a powerbank, providing comfortable and even warmth.
Adjustment of heat level: Many heated vests have different heat levels or settings, making it possible to adjust the temperature according to need and weather. You can usually easily change the heat level by pressing a button on the vest.
Long-lasting warmth: Depending on the battery capacity and selected heat level, a heated vest can often provide warmth for several hours, usually between 4 and 10 hours, which is sufficient for most outdoor activities.
If you choose a power bank with a higher capacity, it usually weighs more. Therefore, we recommend that you choose a reasonably sized power bank that you can then replace or switch between.
Comfort and mobility: Unlike thick outerwear, a heated vest provides warmth directly to the body without being bulky. This makes it comfortable to wear under other garments and perfect for activities such as riding, hiking, or working outdoors, where freedom of movement is important.
So, a heated vest works well to provide an effective heat supplement and keep the body warm, especially in cold environments where it can otherwise be difficult to stay warm and comfortable.
How long can a heated vest keep warm?
How long a heated vest can keep warm depends on a few factors, primarily the battery capacity and the heat setting used.
Here is an approximate guideline:
Low heat setting: On the lowest heat setting, most heated vests can keep warm for between 6 and 8 hours. This setting provides a comfortable level of warmth without draining the battery quickly.
Medium heat setting: On a medium heat setting, the battery usually lasts between 4 and 6 hours, providing noticeable warmth suitable for moderately cold conditions.
High heat setting: On the highest heat setting, the battery life may be shorter, often between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the vest's battery capacity. This setting is useful in very cold conditions but consumes the battery faster. If you want to extend the usage time, it may be a good idea to bring an extra battery with you, especially if you plan to be outdoors for a long time.
Some models also offer energy-saving features or automatic shut-offs to maximize battery life.
Should a heated vest fit close to the body?
Yes, a heated vest should fit close to the body for optimal performance - but not be worn against naked skin. When the vest fits snugly against the body, the heat from the heating elements can be transferred directly to the body without "leaking" into the air. This helps to keep you warm and allows the vest to effectively regulate body temperature.
It is a good idea to wear a thin, moisture-wicking layer directly under the vest, such as a base layer, to both keep the skin dry and maximize the heating effect.
Are heated vests good to use in the stable?
Yes, heated vests are very good to use in the stable, especially during colder periods.
Here are some benefits of having a heated vest in the stable:
Flexibility and freedom of movement: Heated vests are light and flexible, which means they do not restrict your freedom of movement. This is especially important in the stable, where you often perform various physical tasks, such as feeding, mucking out, and handling horses.
Layering adaptability: Heated vests work excellently as a mid-layer under a jacket or as an outer garment on milder but chilly days. They provide extra warmth without being bulky, allowing you to add or remove layers depending on the temperature in the stable.
Adjustable heat for varying temperatures: Many heated vests have several heat settings, allowing you to adjust the heat as needed. The stable can be drafty and cold in the morning, but if the temperature rises during the day, you can easily lower the heat or turn off the vest.
Keeps the torso warm: Heated vests provide extra warmth to the torso, which helps to keep the body's core temperature stable. This is particularly beneficial in a busy and cold stable, where the body can quickly cool down when you are still between different tasks.
Long battery life: With a heated vest that has good battery life, you can stay warm throughout your stable work without having to change the battery or charge the vest.
In summary, heated vests are a practical and comfortable choice for work in the stable, as they provide warmth and comfort while being light and flexible, allowing you to perform your tasks without hindrance.
