Horse feed supplements - Back on Track
Ensuring that your horse gets all the necessary nutrients is crucial for its health, well-being and performance.
At Back on Track, we focus on rosehip - a highly nutritious feed raw material for horses, with a range of beneficial properties. Rosehip is well known for promoting good mobility in the horse's joints. The effect of rosehip on joint problems in particular is due to the unique combination of healthy substances naturally present in rosehip.
Back on Track's Rosehip for horses is available in three different forms: finely ground rosehip powder, coarsely ground rosehip powder and rosehip pellets. All products consist exclusively of 100% wild rosehips (Rosa canina).
Find the right feed supplement for your horse
At Back on Track, you'll find several different types of rosehip supplements for your horse.
Rose hips are used to support the health and performance of horses. Rosehip contains a large amount of healthy phytochemicals (substances made by plants) that also work together to create a synergistic effect.
The vitamin C content is particularly high. Vitamin C is more easily absorbed by the horse's body when it is present together with other substances in a natural feed material. The horse's body utilises vitamin C in a variety of biological processes and may therefore require additional supplementation during times of stress, although horses are capable of producing vitamin C themselves. Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidant.
Rosehip also contains a variety of other antioxidants as well as anti-inflammatory substances - galactolipids - which have been shown to have a positive effect on health, particularly in the case of joint problems.
Rosehip supplements for horses from Back on Track
Rosehip supplements can offer several health benefits for horses, just like for dogs and humans. At Back on Track, you can find rosehip supplements for your horse in the form of coarsely ground and finely ground powder, as well as pellets.
Our finely ground and coarsely ground rosehips can be mixed in the feed. Rosehip pellets provide chewing resistance and can be used as a horse treat. Older horses or horses with weaker teeth may prefer powdered rosehips.

The main benefits of rosehip supplements for your horse
- Support for joint health
Rosehips are rich in antioxidants and natural anti-inflammatory substances, which can help relieve symptoms of joint problems, such as stiffness or osteoarthritis. This is particularly useful for older horses or horses that are hard-working and at risk of developing joint problems.
- Promotes healthy coat and skin
Rose hips are rich in vitamin C and other nutrients that support skin health and can improve the shine and strength of the coat. It is useful for horses with skin problems or who shed a lot.
- Antioxidant protection
Rosehip contains a high amount of antioxidants, especially vitamin C and flavonoids, which help protect the horse's cells from oxidative stress caused by free radicals. This can strengthen the immune system and reduce the risk of disease.
- Improved digestion
Rosehip supplements contain natural fibres that can help support healthy digestion. It can improve gut motility and facilitate smoother bowel movements, which can be beneficial for horses that are prone to digestive problems.
- Increased energy and aidedrecovery
Many horse owners report that rosehip supplements help to give their horse more energy and improve recovery after hard work. This makes rosehip particularly popular for horses that are regularly trained or competed.
Vitamin C supplementation is particularly beneficial in healing and recovery processes.
- Immune system support
Rose hips are rich in vitamin C, which is important for the immune system. Horses can synthesise their own vitamin C to some extent, but during stress, exercise or illness, extra supplementation can be beneficial to strengthen their defences.
- Support for hooves
Some horse owners have seen improvements in hoof quality after using rosehip supplements. The nutrients in rosehips can contribute to stronger and healthier hooves, which is important for horses that work hard.
