Base Layers from Back on Track

When the temperature drops, the body is masterful at producing heat. The challenge is to retain the heat and prevent it from escaping into the cold environment. To achieve this, you need the right clothing - and that starts with a functional base layer.

Your body needs to be both insulated and kept dry. The best combination of clothing therefore consists of several layers - with a base layer that has high breathability as well as properties that allow moisture and sweat to be quickly transported away from the skin. All of Back on Track's base layers and underwear are developed with this in mind.

And because they incorporate our textile technologies, they also give the body a boost of far infrared energy - but without insulating or adding heat. They are made for movement!

Warm, insulating clothing may seem like the best choice when it's cold and you're staying relatively still. But when you're more active, the same clothes can quickly feel ‘too warm’ and it's easy to start sweating.

Sweat and moisture are the biggest enemies of warmth - which makes it especially important to choose a base layer that keeps you dry. Otherwise, your body risks cooling down quickly as soon as you stop your activity.

Back on Track's base layers in functional materials lay the foundation for the greatest possible well-being and comfort - close to the skin, so you stay dry and warm from morning to night.

But they also incorporate our Welltex® or Iontex® textile technologies. This gives the seemingly simple base layers a set of more advanced properties: minerals in the threads of the fabric will absorb and emit the body's heat in the form of beneficial far infrared energy (FIR).

‘Isaac’ and “Lydia” are Back on Track's latest underwear models - for men and women respectively - made of a thin and soft knitted jersey fabric with incorporated Welltex® technology. The top with matching long johns/leggings envelops the body with a light and flexible layer that feels smooth against the skin and provides warmth, without getting too hot during movement.

Back on Track for training and high intensity

Thin, stretchy and body-hugging: some of our base layers are particularly suited to demanding winter sports and physical performance, such as cross-country skiing and running.

High-intensity activities in cold climates place a new set of demands on the clothing closest to the body. In particular, they must keep the skin dry even when sweating profusely, despite the fact that the undergarment tightens around the body.

The functional material must therefore have particularly high breathability and properties that quickly wick away moisture and make even a tight-fitting layer feel comfortable to wear.
