Choose the right dog coat for your hunting dog!

Choose the right dog coat for your hunting buddy! Back on Track's dog coats keep your dog warm and dry so you can both make the most of your time in the woods and fields.

Back on Track's dog coats are developed for optimal functionality and durability. This makes them a perfectly adapted part of the equipment during the hunt.

All Back on Track dog coats are a unique combination of high-performance functional materials, practical design and infrared effect (FIR). They protect against rain, cold, wind and weather - but are also lined with the ‘active’ material that contains our textile technology.

The stimulating effect of the coat stimulates circulation in the tissues and helps to keep the dog's muscles and joints warm and soft. This favours recovery and also works preventively. Warm muscles with good blood flow are soft and flexible, which both increases reaction speed and reduces the risk of injury.

Hunting dogs - unique animals working in a tough environments

A hunting dog is a working dog, often bred specifically to assist humans during hunting. This means that hunting instincts will dominate their behaviour (with obvious benefits), but it also creates a very special type of dog - with characteristics that may cause them to need extra care.

Hunting dogs can cover large areas and run kilometre after kilometre in a single day. The terrain is demanding, varied and sometimes unpredictable. But excellent hunting dogs love their task; they are intense and dedicated, giving their all until they are totally exhausted. This often happens without warning and even without the dog alerting its owner to any pain or injury.

It is clear that every product developed for this type of dog must meet very high standards of both function and durability. Back on Track's dog coats are therefore our most important contribution to the working dog's well-being and performance.

Our focus: the well-being of the working dog

Each Back on Track product is a unique combination of high-performance functional materials and the effect of far infrared energy (FIR).

Things to consider when choosing a dog coat:

Which dog coat is right for your dog?

There are many different types of dog coats, so it can be difficult to choose the right one. But the most important thing to consider is the characteristics of your own dog - as well as the conditions of the place where you will be hunting.

The season and the weather matter, as does the type of fur your dog has: a dog with a short or thin fur may need help keeping warm - more so than a dog with a long, thick, waterproof fur. Cold and rain have different requirements than a milder season and sunny weather. Does your dog need protection from the rain? And does it need a dog coat that also has an insulating filling? Back on Track's range has a dog coat for every situation and for every type of dog!

Choose the right size and fit

We have dog coats specially designed for dogs with long backs and short legs. These dog coats fit perfectly on a dachshund, as well as other breeds with a similar type of build.

We also have dog coats adapted to both high and low set tails. It is important that the coat protects the tail root and has a good fit around the lower back. This covers and protects a sensitive point, particularly in bird dogs, which are prone to developing water tail - especially if they get wet and exposed to cold.

Choose a high-quality dog coat that can withstand wear and tear

A dog coat designed to withstand Swedish conditions will last longer and better withstand both the weather and the terrain.

Back on Track's dog coats are developed entirely in Sweden by our own pattern designers - and are characterised by a well-thought-out, functional design that makes them practical and easy to use.

Choose high-performance functional materials

Functional materials are characterised by their innovative material properties that add additional benefits to the dog coat. For example, functional materials with high breathability allow moisture to escape, but at the same time have a water-repellent surface that protects against rain.

This increases your dog's well-being and helps it dry faster, which in turn can reduce the risk of water tail.

Choose a dog coat that can be adjusted and customised

An adjustable dog coat allows for a better fit, as it can be moulded to your own dog's specific body shape. It will fit better and stay in place more easily, covering all the important muscle groups even when the dog is active and busy with its tasks.

You may also prefer a dog coat that is multifunctional; for example, a thin raincoat without filling that can be worn layered over a dog jumper or a coat with filling. This is practical in several ways and makes the coat more useful; in more situations and in various weather and temperature conditions.

What benefits does FIR add to a dog coat?

Our textile technologies, embedded in the textile material closest to the dog, mean that the dog coat reflects far infrared energy (FIR). This particular part of the infrared spectrum is considered to have a positive effect on both humans and animals, stimulating circulation in the tissues. This can contribute to more efficient blood flow and increased mobility in muscles and joints. It is also well known to relieve problems such as stiffness, arthritis and strains.

Warm, well-supplied muscles are supple and flexible, something which will both increase reaction speed and reduce the risk of injury.
