Boots for horses - find the right one at Back on Track

Pamper your horse with the very best equipment, featuring practical design and functional materials combined with the impact of FIR technology!

At Back on Track you will find a wide range or horse boots in different colours, sizes designs and materials. But what makes our boots unique is the presence of a textile technology - Welltex® - in the functional fabric closest to the horse.

This actually makes the lining of the boot “active” - giving it the ability to reflect FIR, the far infrared energy that radiates from the horse’s body. This form of energy has been shown to exert a therapeutic effect on biological tissues, by stimulating circulation and blood flow.

Horse boots - frequently asked questions and answers

Why do horses need boots?

Horses need boots to protect their legs and hooves from injuries, blows and abrasions that can occur during activities such as training, racing and playing in the paddock.

Boots offer shock absorption, which is important on hard surfaces and can reduce the risk of overuse injuries to tendons and ligaments.

In addition, boots can be used to support recovery by promoting blood circulation, protecting against injuries, and preventing blisters.

By providing these different types of protection and support, boots play an important role in maintaining the health and well-being of the horse.

What are the different types of boots for horses?

There are several different types of boots for horses, each designed for specific purposes and needs;

Each type of boot has its own specific characteristics and uses, and it is important to choose the right type based on the horse's individual needs and the activities it is involved in.

Correct fit and use is essential to maximise the protection and benefits of the boots.

Here are some of the most common types of equine leg protection:

  • Work Boots/Exercise Boots: cover parts of the tibia, the entire vertebral joint and the fibula with a shock-absorbing layer. They offer stable protection for tendons and joints from the tibia down to the vertebral joint. The sturdy material surrounds the joint and stabilises the highly stressed tendons.
  • Brush Boots: cover the inside of the fetlock and cannon with a strong and resistant material.
  • Pastern Wrap: protects the pastern from impact and injury in case of overstepping or contact with obstacles in jumping.
  • Bell Boots: protects the horse's hoof and crown edge. Also protects against bale trampling and reduces the risk of drop shoes.
  • Quick Wraps: are an easy-to-use version of leg wraps and pads, with the same functions for the horse's legs.
  • Tendon Boots: consists of a strong and durable shell, as well as a shock-absorbing material on the back of the tendon that reduces and disperses the effect of hard impacts and shocks.
  •  Fetlock Boots: cover the inside of the fetlock with a resistant outer shell over a shock-absorbing material.
